An automotive shut-off valve, used within the On-Board Vapor Recovery emission systems, was redesigned to reduce cost.
Our customer was assembling a rubber seal onto another rubber-to-plastic component. After a few design iterations, we helped to incorporate two sealing functions into one overmolded assembly.
The redesign helped reduce assembly and component cost, and provide an error-proof approach to ensure that the two sealing functions are present in the final valve assembly.
The redesign has also been applied to a similar component assembly. |
